Curacao strengthens commitment to quality in tourism

Hardly any other industry is more dependent on an intact environment than tourism. More and more tourism destinations are therefore incorporating the principles of sustainable development into their strategies.

The biggest challenge is usually the implementation in practice. It is a matter of motivating tourism service providers to invest in the future and perhaps even to leave the "comfort zone" for this purpose.

To ensure that this mobilisation succeeds, Curacao is developing a certification programme that includes important standards of sustainable tourism development and at the same time brings the issue of service quality forward.

Optimal broad impact can be expected by linking the promotion of tourism with the implementation of the programme by the service providers, which will also provide effective impulses for investments in resources and climate protection.

On behalf of Eurecna, Kai Partale supports the OCTA Innovation Programme, which assists Curacao in the implementation.
