Tourism labour force development in Egypt

Promoting employment and increasing competitiveness in tourism and hospitality

The low guest arrivals in tourism in Egypt have led to a sharp decline in the number of skilled workers over the last few years, who have found work in other economic sectors, among others, and as a result the quality of service is at risk once guest arrivals increase again.

The EU's reform programme to support vocational training aims to improve the professional qualifications of the workforce in order to ensure a high quality of service in tourism and to provide the professional staff needed to revitalise tourism. In particular, the employability of young people is to be increased and the country's competitiveness enhanced.

Within the framework of the vocational training project, a Tourism HRD Strategy is currently being developed by the international consortium of CID / GFA. Kai Partale supports this project as a consultant and is responsible for the technical and content-related development of the strategy.
