Arusha. On 28 June 2018, the "Responsible Tourism Day" took place in Tanzania. The highlight of the event with 120 participants from numerous African and European countries was the first-ever presentation of the Responsible Tourism Tanzania Award.

Kai Partale was a member of the jury at the award ceremony and contributed to the programme with a keynote on the topic "World Tourism Market Trends - How Sustainable Tourism is Shaping Tourism for Tomorrow".

From a total of 90 applications, particularly innovative concepts were selected, which are presented on the website of Responsible Tourism Tanzania. The decisive factors were both their contribution to the sustainable development of tourism in the country and the strengthening of women and young people in the labour market.

The Responsible Tourism Award is now presented annually by Responsible Tourism Tanzania in cooperation with partners from the tourism industry and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

The project was supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the UN Project on Trade and Production Capacity.
