Kai Partale studied Tourism Geography, Business Administration and Sociology. Between 1999 and 2008 he worked on behalf of the European Tourism Institute. Among others he was responsible as Chief Representative and Director for the institutes in Xiamen (China), and Samedan / St. Moritz (Switzerland).
In addition, he has worked since 2004 for various clients, including the UN, WB, EU and GIZ, especially in international lodging, leisure and tourism projects.
Kai has worked in strategic planning for the General Investment Authority in Egypt, assisted UNCTAD in Investment Promotion, advised on Responsible Tourism and Community-Based Tourism in Tanzania and Mozambique. He was responsible for the establishment of the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute and Training Hotel in Yemen and worked in Egypt and in Jordan on education/TVET projects. He worked four years in a leading position in a national tourism sector programme in Vietnam. Other activities were the development of strategies to strengthen the SMEs within the Mongolian hospitality and tourism industry.
He is specialized in market intelligence and strategy consulting, investment promotion and business development, destination marketing management, human resources development and sustainable development.
